Recover multiple VMs using management console

When recovering VMs in the management console of the Backup and DR service, is there a way to recover more than one VM at once? instead of recovering one VM at a time?

It would be good to allow a group of VMs to be recovered at once using logical groups.

Hi @zeina_t

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

GCP provides several options for backing up and recovering VMs, combining native features with integrated third-party tools:

  • Snapshots: Create point-in-time snapshots of persistent disks attached to your VMs. Snapshots are incremental, cost-effective, and can be used to create new disks or restore existing ones.
  • Images: Create machine images of entire VMs, including the operating system, applications, and data. Images are used to create new VMs.
  • Instance Templates: Define the configuration of a VM (machine type, disks, network, etc.) and use it to create multiple VMs consistently.
  • Managed Instance Groups (MIGs): Automatically manage and scale a group of identical VMs based on an instance template.
  • Cloud Storage: Use Cloud Storage buckets for storing backups of critical data.

Note: If you're using a third-party Backup and DR solution from the GCP Marketplace, it may provide features for recovering groups of VMs. Consult the support resources for your specific third-party product to understand its multi-VM recovery capabilities.

Thank you for your response.

However my question is specific to the functionality of the "Backup and DR service" and specifically, backups that are done using the "management console".
