SAS - Why isn’t the SAS issuing my CBSD new grants when my current ones are suspended?

Today's article is short, but very important to understanding how the SAS works. Some folks wonder why the SAS isn't automatically issuing CBSDs new grants when they experience suspensions. Alternatively, they may feel that the SAS is issuing their CBSDs grant that they do not want and are wondering why that is.

Why isn’t the SAS issuing my CBSD new grants when my current ones are suspended?

Your CBSD is not receiving new grants when its current one is suspended because either your CBSD is not requesting them, or it is requesting invalid grants. The SAS can only respond to requests it receives from a CBSD, it cannot issue new grants without first receiving a request from a CBSD. If you want to investigate why your CBSD requested a certain grant over another, it may be best to ask your CBSD manufacturer for troubleshooting assistance.

The SAS does not automatically terminate a CBSD's grant when it is suspended because suspensions are temporary and older grants are usually preferred over newer ones. If you are curious why that is, we would suggest checking out this article in the Help Center: Operate CBSDs near the coast.
