Unable to edit configuration of VM Instance with Spot Provisioning Model

I have this weird error when I try to edit the configuration of a compute engine instance that was orginally created with Spot provisioning model.

When you try to save the configuration, it comes up with an error: "Make sure that all fields are correct to continue". Scrolling down, the only issue that seems to come up is: "On host maintenance cannot be changed for E2 machine types." 

However, "On-host Maintanance" is a blanked-out field and has not changed.

Looks like a bug in the system. Can Anyone help?

There is already an internal discussion with regards to the fix.
However there is no ETA when it will be released.

Still and issue apparently. Is there any work around?

Seems like this will not be implemented. I can't change the provisioning model at all, not from Spot to Standard nor vice-versa. 

The console tells me "Provisioning model cannot be edited." and that's it.
