Hi, When will the Windows Server 2022 Images be available?
I don't have any specific timeline for adding a Windows Server 2022 image as of yet in discussion with the product team.
@AhmadpIs there any update from the product team? A rough estimate is fine.
Any updates? Amazon already offers Server 2022 in both Marketplace and Community repo, and GCP seems to be more affordable for developers.
Any updates?
Any update when windows server 2022 will be added in google cloud ?
I'm sure you will all be pleased to know that Windows Server 2022 is now available, see: https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/images/os-details#windows_server
When I provision a VM with the Windows Server 2022 image, there is no Premium Image usage fee like there is for Windows Server 2019 or 2016. Is there some sort of promotional period where the usage fee doesn't apply or does this just not show up on the pricing estimate?
There is still a charge, the same as the previous versions, I just did a quick test and it definitely shows up, there can be a slight lag in billing reporting perhaps, but it appears as `Licensing Fee for Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Edition on VM`
Alex, what do you mean by "slight lag"?
Only WS2022DC fails to show a premium label during instance configuration, even if I go and tinker with other variables. At no point does it mention premium image fee
Switch to 20H2 and instantly there's the fee
It gets to be an alarming omission with even small machines:
Sometimes it's more than half the monthly cost...
Doesn't seem like something that should be laggy.
Ah, I see what you mean, in the estimate, apologies I thought the reference was to the actual billing. Let me investigate this more and revert back.
It just seems that everything coming from Microsoft and Windows especially cannot be good these days. We have been waiting for Windows Server 2022, for at least pictures of it and we get almost no changes. Without a doubt advanced multi-layer security here is awesome, but I don’t see anything made better than previous versions apart from this. Several years ago Windows Server didn’t have serious competitors, but now there is GCP and Amazon Server 2022 with more affordable prices. I don’t know what’s about you guys, but there is no way I’m gonna pay the whole price. I’ve just recently found cheap windows keys, so I probably will buy some of those.
Is there any update about the estimation for Premium image usage fee?
I see that the Windows Server Standard option is not there and we only have the Datacenter option. Am I looking at the wrong place or is it not there for a reason?
