debian-12 error on importing image

The documentation says debian 12 is supported

https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/images/os-details

but I'm getting this error when I try to import an image:

Hello,

Image Import is moving to Migrate to VMs. The Import Virtual disk service is in preview and will support importing Debian 12 images. I've linked a guide on this below.

In the meantime, I've also flagged this issue that Debian 12 doesn't seem to be supported with the existing Image Import tool.

Best,

Quinton

Thanks.

The new service doesn't support ova files (File must end in .vmdk, .tar.gz, .vdi, .vhd, .vhdx, .qcow, .qcow2, .qed or .vpc). I thought this was an open standard. Is this an oversight?
