instance groups UPDATE VMS I'm curious about the options.

Hello.
I'm curious about the UPDATE VMS feature option in GCP's Instance groups.
GCP > Compute Engine > Instance groups

Update configuration
If you select Automatic, there are refresh, restart, and replace options.
I thought this was a VM status option related to updating the template

I tested and found that the VM templates were updated immediately, with each of those options selected.

Even if I refer to GCP Docs, there is no explanation for the option, so I am writing because I am so curious about what function it is.
