Introducing Eventing for Application Integration!

We have recently launched a new feature in Application integration, now not only that you can trigger operations in your backends, but also listen to events happening in your Backends!

Say for example if someone creates a ticket in Zendesk, you want to create an issue in Jira? The trivial way of doing it manually seems tiresome and error prone! Want to automate this? Eventing to the rescue!

This is how it would work!

  • Go to Application integration and check out the brand new triggers!!!
    • For now, you will see triggers for Jira, Zendesk and Servicenow. We are working on increasing this list even further very soon! So stay tuned!

  • Drag and drop the trigger of your choice, in this case, Zendesk trigger!
  • On the right hand panel, click on configure trigger
    • Select a connection with Event subscriptions enabled or Create a connection with Event subscriptions enabled! (this enables the eventing feature)

  • To enable Event subscription for existing connection, you can toggle this setting in Edit connection page in Integration connectors.

Edit connection flow

Note: If the connector supports “Data enrichment”, enable it in “Event Subscription Details” to have additional context about the entity on which the Event is generated!

  • Select the ticket.TicketCreated Event type in this case (or whatever fits your use case, there are lots of these supported already!).
  • Note: This step requires you to select a Service account, make sure this service account has the Integration invoker role

  • The trigger once configured will show the status of the Event Subscription.
    • Tip: Want to manage all the Event Subscriptions at one place? Checkout the Event Subscriptions tab in Connection details page in Integration connectors!

  • The trigger outputs a variable with payload having details regarding Event generated at the Backend.

  • Now create a connector task and configure it with a Jira Connection on which you want to create an issue! You can also use the above variable data to populate the issue.

Voila! You are ready to sit back and give your time to other important tasks while your integration does this job for you!
