Professional Cloud Architect Renewal Certification - Beta Exam

Google Cloud is launching a new, streamlined renewal exam for the Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) certification. This exam focuses on Generative AI case studies, allowing certified cloud architects to stay current with Google Cloud technologies and showcase their ability to address business challenges using Gen AI.

By participating in the beta exam, individuals can:

- Renew their PCA certification at a discounted rate.

- Influence the final version of the PCA renewal exam by providing feedback.

- Gain early access to the new, streamlined renewal process.

- Stay ahead of the curve with the latest advancements in Google Cloud technology, particularly Gen AI.

I just took the PCA a couple of days ago, would it be beneficial to sign up for this beta exam?

It depends on where you are in your cloud architect journey!! 

•  If you took the PCA exam to recertify as a cloud architect and you pass the exam, you don’t need to take the Renewal exam unless you want to challenge yourself with questions around Gen AI. 
• If you took the PCA exam to recertify as a cloud architect and you don’t pass the exam, it would be beneficial to sign up for the beta Renewal exam. Sitting the beta doesn’t count toward your total number of attempts. Be sure to review the PCA Renewal Exam Guide and the new case studies: Cymbal Retail Case Study and Altostrat Media Case Study.

@kblakeslee, appreciate if you could clarify that for this PCA-Renewal Beta exam - should i be expecting only the 2 new case studies ( Cymbal Retail & Altostrat Media Case Study ) or is it the older 4 Case Studies plus the two above with heavy focus on Gen AI Solutions stack ?

Isn't it too late to get GCP PCA Renewal Voucher? Like You are posting now and for Renewal Voucher the registration is closed on 22nd Nov. I had done PCA certification in Dec-2022 and now I want to renew it, if it's possible to get renewal voucher then it'll be helpful @kblakeslee

What would be great is if the validity got changed to 3 years similar to the  Cloud Engineer and Cloud Digital Leader exam, and that they also got renewed if you passed PCA, which is similar to what AWS does, rather than having to resit all the exams again.

How long is the exam in minutes and how many questions do you get asked?

It is 1 hour exam with 25 Question . Most of the Questions are related to Case studies and Genearative AI. Just cleared it today

Took the exam yesterday, so I can conform what Ajay said. 1 hour, 25 questions. In my opinion it was way easier than the full PCA exam. Most questions had at least 2 options I could discard immediately. I read the case studies, went through a bit of the learning path to familiarize with AI tools and that was it.
