Today’s discussion: Growth mindset
A big part of having a growth mindset is learning from mistakes (scroll to #2 for a quote from The Frizz!). What is a mistake that you have made, professionally? And how did you learn from it?
Please don’t overshare, and please change names (of people, companies, products, etc.) - no need to reveal secrets! This is meant to be an opportunity to share how we’re all growing, and demystify “success.” It’s not always easy or straightforward, even if it looks that way.
Whew, now that the fine print is out of the way… I’ll go first.
One of my mistakes (of many) was when I turned down a job at a startup. I regretted my decision almost immediately. But I couldn’t un-send the “no thanks” email, so I moved on. Very fortunately for me, the recruiter called me back a few weeks later and told me the startup wanted to give me a second chance. I took it! The startup was eventually acquired (by Google) and here we are 🙂
