Bug: unable to configure text style of optional metrics

I heavily use "optional metrics" feature available in many charts.

However, I have a trouble using dark themes with Looker Studio due to inability to customize text color in the list of available metrics. This is especially bad when the background is fully black.

Below is the screenshot that highlights the problem (I applied one of the default themes and enabled "optional metrics" for the chart

To my knowledge, Looker Studio doesn't have a supported dark mode. Workarounds like browser extensions can sometimes cause issues like this with contrast.

I recommend creating a feature request! As a fellow lover of dark themes, I especially recommend upvoting the dark mode in Looker Studio feature request.

Dark mode and dark theme not quite the same; I'm speaking of latter. Looker Studio allows for flexible and detailed styling options for most of elements except this block. Also, there are built-in dark themes available in the "Theme and Layout" menu and they all share the same problem I highlighted above.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. I was able to reproduce this with our default dark theme. That feels like an oversight to me, I'll log it as a bug for now.

Hi Sam - just a friendly follow up on this. Would be a huge upgrade if it could be resolved. Cheers and thanks for your hard work.

Appreciate the follow up! No news for now, but I'll bring this up again with the team and keep you posted.

Thank you.

Hello @sam8 ,

Do you know if a fix of this bug is planned ?

@olehomelchenko A workaround for this is to enable the "Optional Metrics" option but leave it empty. Instead, add the required metrics directly in the "Metric" tab. In view mode, you can then select and deselect the metrics you want to function as optional metrics. This approach allows you to customise the metric styles as needed while maintaining the functionality of optional metrics in view mode
