Can’t Use Gemini AI Slide Generation in Looker Studio

Hey Looker Studio Community,

I’m stuck with Gemini AI in Looker Studio and could use some help. I’m the owner of my report, but when I try to use Gemini AI, it says: "The report owner has blocked the slide generation option for the viewers" (check the screenshot I attached).

I’ve already tried switching to "EDIT" mode, but I still get the message. I also looked in the report settings to see if I could turn on slide generation, but I didn’t see anything. My data source is a Google Sheet, and I made sure it has "Editor" access. I’m on Looker Studio Pro, so I should be able to use this feature, right?

Has anyone else run into this? How do I get Gemini AI to work for slide generation as the report owner? Thanks for any tips!

I am seeing the same issue in our Looker instance. We had been using the slide generation successfully but about three weeks ago the option has been disabled.  The other gemini features in Looker Studio do work (i.e. conversational agent, formulas).  I checked that the reports do not have the prevent slide generation option disabled.  All the gemini options are enabled as suggested in the various documentation.  I can't seem to figure out why the slide generation is disabled.  It does not matter which Looker Studio report I select the option is disabled.

Any ideas what could be causing this issue?

@------20252444 I had the same issue and I think I figured out the solution.  You need to ensure your report is sitting within your Project folder that you designated for Looker Studio Pro.  Meaning you need to move your content to the sandbox folder or whichever folders you created within your project.  From the Home Screen select the three dots of the report and move to the sandbox folder.  Once moved if you open the report again, the generate slides should be enabled.

There was an issue on our side, and we pushed a fix for it on April 18th. Do you still see this issue?

No I am no longer seeing an issue.
