Can't apply custom currency format

I want to display a sum of a field I have on a Google Sheets document. While it does display it, I would like to apply a currency format which sepates with commas, and the decimals at the end to be separated from the rest with a dot. For example:

The way it is being displayed: $6.126.622,94

The way I want it to be displayed: $6,126,622.94

I've tried several things as editing the visualization format, but it just stays the same.

Hope someone knows how to fix this issue 🙂
