Data Control - Google Ads accounts hidden

I am experiencing a bug where my "Data Control" button for Google Ads does not show any accounts (even though they are loaded).

I've been using the same dashboard for months and I never had this problem until yesterday.
I've tried several browsers, several emails, I have tried to delete cookies & cache, incognito mode. I also checked on different dashboards as well as with different email accounts (my colleagues)... nothing works.

I've checked the HTML Source of the Looker Dashboard and I found out that the accounts are loaded but they are not displayed (i cannot click on them or select any of them).

This must be a very recent bug that affects more users.

Any ideas how to fix this please?

I have the same problem too. Maybe you've already solved it?

no, when did you start seeing this problem?

I have this problem since 08.01.2025

Maybe you know, where we can report this problem?

Problem?

only here unless you pay for support 😕

We started seeing this 2 days ago. It was initially 1 report and 1 user. Now it is affecting ALL Looker reports with a Google Ads connector, and all but 2 of our 20+ users.

Here' my question: https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/forums/v5/forumtopicpage.inlinemessagereplyeditor.form.form....

I am having the same issue.  It started about a week ago.  We thought we found a solution because when we went into the associated Google Ads accounts we were asked to reauthorize the accounts.  Once we did that, everything started working again. Yesterday, the data in the data control dropdown disappeared again, but this time Ads doesn't ask us to reauthorize.  It's really annoying and has my team duplicating work.  I hope there is a solution soon!

I am having the same problem. I have tried mulitple different browsers. I have shared ad accounts with multiple different business emails and created new reports with no filters etc. And I am having the same problem.

This functionality is not working currently.

It must be a bug with LookerStudio

We have the same exact issue, hopefully this gets fixed asap!

I am facing same issue!

I believe this is a global problem for anyone using Google Ads data control drop-down field. We have the same issue. https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Looker-Studio/BUG-introduced-week-of-Jan-9-2025-Google-Looke...

Thank you @Jhana47 for putting so much effort into getting this message noticed

Got the same problem since last week up to this day. I've had done several troubleshooting yet still no result. Still the same!! Ughh

Experiencing the same issue - not able to pull in data from my accounts - and Google says it does not provide support for non-analytics connections, so unable to send an email about it.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue here ☹️. Has anyone get the solution?

I have the same issue, hopefully this gets fixed asap!

Hi, we are experiencing the same issue. Hope they fix it ASAP.

I'm having the same problem 😞

I'm having the same issue, I noticed it on January 8th. I have tried multiple browsers and user names. Regular browsers and incognito.

As of January 2025, I can no longer access accounts from the Google dropdown in Looker Studio reports. Please assist!

Drop-down control on all reports utilizing our accounts is not working. I have double checked linkage, hard refreshed the data, double checked permissions, revoked and regranted user permissions, remade reports; nothing worked. A fix needs to be made.

Popping in to add, most of our 20+ team is still having this issue. Remarkably, 1 view is still working, but I have also purposefully NOT closed my Chrome browser or the tab with that report open. When I try to open another Looker Studio report that uses the same default Google Ads data control selector, I do NOT see the account list. But the window I left open since Jan 9th is still displaying the list & data OK.

I can see there was a Looker Studio update on Jan 9th. 😕

Mesmo problema. Clientes reclamando a milhão 😞

This just gets weirder and weirder... As I mentioned earlier I have 1 Looker Studio report with that default Google Ads data connector (drop-down list of accounts to select from) still working because I left it open.

It is the ONLY report that is working for me now.

I can copy/paste the URL of the report that is working into a new tab or window and the account list is hidden in the new tab, but remains visible on the tab I've had open since a week ago Monday.

Last week after other users started having this issue for ALL of their reports, I could initially still run any reports for them, they all worked for me. Now the only report that is working is the 1 I've had open since Jan 8th.

We make extensive use of that data control and have 100's of Ads accounts we run reports for monthly. I sure hope Google fixes this soon. 😕

I am facing the same issue. Has anyone found a solution?

Hi all,

I have the same issue. Anyone knows if Google is aware about this issue?

I think has a huge impact.

Thank you.

yes

I have a same issue too

We experience the same problem. When we want to select our data -> Our Google ads account, we can only chosse 'Default' and we tried it with several users, browser and accounts.

Hi all,

An advice for you. If you use MCCs and you don't have a large amount of customers (less than 50) inside your MCC I suggest you to switch the data from the sample to the Google Ads connector and the select > MANAGER ACCOUNT > select the entire MCC and then switch in every graph or table the data connection from sample google ads to google ads connector. In this way you can partially solve the issue for now and then come back when Google will solve the issue. Suggestion: some metrics could disappear with this method but at least you have a solution

Thanks! This does work and not only can I select a MCC, I can select up to 50 individual accounts whether they are in an MCC or not. I just have to connect to them using Manager Accounts.

Same issue here on 01/16/2025

Hello,

I confirm that the data control selector for Google Ads works again on my account.

However, I noticed a change in the naming of a few key Google Ads metrics. Some of them are now renamed to "xyz (converted)". This renaming has broken most of the reports.

Is there anything we can do to have the usual metrics retain their original names? E.g. "Cost", "Cost / conv.", etc...

Thanks

Hi there!

We haven't renamed any Google Ads fields recently. After discussing with a developer, we wonder if this could be related to a change to mixed currency. Is it possible that your MCC account was previously using only a single currency, but now has been changed to multi currency?
