probably you use some aggregation on this field and that's why it is 0, try different aggregation. Hardly to comment as can't see the metric configuration, so just blind guess...

I have had this same problem recently.  When I have the totals displayed on the report, the total does not match the values in the table when I add them manually.  In the screen shot the calculator shows the values from the table added manually, which equals 2 less than the automatic total on the table.
