I'm trying to connect to a Clickhouse Cloud source in Looker Studio using the MySQL driver, but I keep encountering the following error:
{category: 5, reason: 24, code: 14, reasonStr: "JDBC_CONNECTION_ERROR", errorCategoryStr: "DATASET_CONFIGURATION", uniqueErrorCode: "75e935d4"}
The same connection parameters work perfectly when I connect from a local client. Does anyone know where I can find a description of this error's category, reason, or code? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi @jd-cx, thanks for your post!
I searched a few resources, and it seems that this error likely means there's a misconfiguration in the connection settings, particularly related to the username format required by ClickHouse when using the MySQL protocol; ensure that it's using the "mysql4<subdomain>_<username>" format for the ClickHouse username within Looker Studio.
Here's the Clickhouse documentation for connecting to Looker Studio for reference, just in case that is helpful!
Thank you for the suggestion. I’ve looked into it and tried various configurations with different usernames, ports, and other connection settings. Unfortunately, the error persists. As I mentioned earlier, it connects without issue from my local machine, so the problem seems specific to the current setup.
Hi @jd-cx ,
I was also facing same issue while trying to connect to ClickHouse from Looker Studio. If you are able to solve this error, can you please help me in solving this issue
Hi @GaneshVasireddy, Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to fully resolve the issue either, or even identify the root cause. Occasionally, the connection starts working again on its own, without any changes on my part—but then the error reappears the next day. It's quite inconsistent. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
