Feedback for Google Looker Studio

I would like to share some feedback on features that I believe would make Looker Studio an even better tool:

  1. Ability to change the country format in the report:
I'm from Mexico, and our number formatting uses commas and periods differently (1,345,000.45) compared to (1.345.000,45). It would be great to have the option to change the number format based on the country.

  2. Set the start day of the week at the report level:
While it’s possible to select Sunday as the start of the week for some filters, it would be very useful to set the start day at the report level so that it applies to all charts — for example, in annual or quarterly graphs — and not just to those using the week filter.

  3. MAX function in calculated fields should respect selected time frames:
Currently, when using the MAX function in calculated fields, it considers the absolute maximum and not the maximum based on the selected time period. It would be very helpful if the MAX value could dynamically adjust based on the selected timeframe (e.g., last month).

  4. Separate dashboard layouts for desktop and mobile:
The platform automatically generates a mobile version, but it often doesn't work properly. It would be great to have the ability to independently design and edit the mobile and desktop versions of the dashboard.

  5. Ability to upload custom fonts:
Allow users to upload and use their own fonts within reports for better branding consistency.

  6. Ability to lock objects within the dashboard:
It would be helpful to lock specific elements so that when selecting multiple objects at once, only unlocked items are affected.

Good stuff! I'm going to briefly talk about each of these in turn since I think they are all so different and interesting.

  1. This is a feature in Looker (localizing number formatting), but I totally agree it would be great to have it in Looker Studio too.
  2. This is also a feature in Looker (set week_start_day parameter) that would be lovely in Studio!
  3. That...sounds like incorrect behavior. I have a MAX calculated field, and it definitely listens to changes in timeframe filters. If you want to look into this further, try creating a fresh report to test, and if it still doesn't seem to listen to filters, create a new post and tag me so we can troubleshoot further.
  4. I'd love to hear more about this. Our team is very motivated on getting responsive reports right. If changing to the mobile preview looks janky, we'd love to hear how that could be improved!
  5. This would be awesome. There are a couple feature requests around this one already.
  6. There's an open feature request for this one too, you're definitely not alone.

Thanks for taking the time to give thoughtful and constructive feedback!
