Hi everyone,
I'm using an Excel file as a data source for Looker Studio. The Excel file is stored in a shared drive and has multiple tabs. I'm creating a different data source connection for each tab. The problem is when I add a new tab, the available Excel file is Looker does not recognize the new tabs. Additionally, the data doesn't update automatically when I edit the info on the already existing tabs. I wonder if this has to do with the 12 hours data freshness, i.e. Looker will only fetch the new updates each 12 hours? Is there any workaround for this? Does anyone know if this feature will be improved in this regard?
Thanks!!
Currently, the Looker Studio Excel connector has no data freshness features. It's more comparable to a one-time CSV upload.
There are plans for Looker Studio to reflect updates in Excel files in the future, stay tuned!
Thanks for the feedback!
Hi! Does Looker Studio update or sync every 12 hours? I'm having the same issue. Looker Studio isn't recognizing or reading the files I upload to Google Drive (Google Sheets).
Hi @oazuniga ! If you're using the Google Sheets connector, then Looker Studio does look for new data on an update schedule. I'm not exactly sure of the timing.
But your question sounds different - are you trying to replace the file entirely? If so, you would have to re-configure the data source each time you replace the file. Looker Studio only supports updating the data, not replacing the file. It expects the file metadata to be the same.
