Problems with changing style of graphs

Hi, I am trying to edit the style of a graph, but whenever I click on an element to change it it just selects the box with a blue outline and doesn't let me change anything. Around the same time a grey box appears in the top left corner whenever I hover over an element appeared so maybe they are related.

That's an odd one, never seen that before!

Does a hard refresh solve it? 
Does it happen on multiple dashboards or just this one?
