Unable to Connect Google Sheets as a Data Source in Looker Studio

Our company has been having an issue for over a month in which no one is able to add any Google Sheets as a data source in Looker Studio.

Initially we couldn't even see our sheets, however, we've since found that setting a filter does get our sheets to display and be selectable, but then we are never given the option to select a Worksheet and therefore cannot complete the Connect/Add function.

I can share screenshots or link a video of the fault if that would be of any help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this matter has become urgent for us.

Many thanks,

Stefan

Hi, could you share those screenshots/videos?

How do you guys add data? Directly onto the report?

Hi @lorenafand,

Thanks for replying and sorry for the delayed response. Please see the video in the linked Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m8Fo7xI1m1JDuVmo9MLJNqyoHhw0yrMX/view?usp=sharing

This is just a short video of me trying to add an example Google Sheet as a new Data Source. We have the same issue when trying to add Google Sheets as a Data Source in existing Reports also.

Best regards,

Stefan

Hi! The same thing is happening to me. Looker Studio isn’t showing the Google Sheets saved in my Gmail account. It’s not syncing. What should we do?

Hi! También me pasa lo mismo. Looker Studio no muestra las hojas de calculo de Google guardadas en mi cuenta de gmail. No sincroniza ¿qué hacemos?

Hey Stefan!
Just watched the video and I ran into the same problem trying to upload spreadsheets through Google Drive :(.

I did some digging and found a workaround that might help you out! I was able to add a data source by using the "URL" option. Just copy and paste the link to your sheet and the "Connect" button should become available. 😊
It's not ideal, but it might do the trick for now.
Oh, and one more thing: In the "Google Sheets" option, if you click the three dots next to the icon, you can report the issue to Google. Since you're a Pro member, you might be able to get faster support and a permanent fix. 😉

Hope this helps!

Hi @lorenafand

Thanks for the tips and for the video!
I'm afraid the URL method hasn't worked for us (attempt in linked video):

However, I think you might be able to get Drive connections working if you apply a filter (example in linked video:

The filter workaround for Drive lets me select a spreadsheet, but it never gets as far as letting me select a workbook or connect the Data Source. Hope the workaround works better for you!
