Clarification of LookML to change between groups from front end as a filter in dashboard

Can I change between groups from front end as a filter in an existing dashboard, without going to admin page and switch the groups. Is that possible to do it? Is using advanced filter-system activity gives me results based on the groups?

Can you explain in more detail what you are trying to do? Are you trying to allow the user to change the group that they are in when looking at a dashboard? What is your end goal?

Yes Sir, I'm trying to allow the user to change the group that they want, when looking at a dashboard. My dashboard should contain the filter to change the group by using advanced filter method in existing dashboard(without Following the steps to change the group as ->admin- users and changing the group )that is my end goal.

A user cannot edit their own group settings, this permission is restricted to admins. 

I am curious as to what you would like to achieve on the front end from a user perspective. What is the end goal that you are looking to implement that would require users to change their own groups?

this is advanced filter in existing dashboard here i can select the system activity then group then name of the group, then the dashboard should visible as per the selected group by the user , but it doesn't show any changes when i switch to different groups using the filter

Ah, thanks for the context! This should work.

Two things for you to check:

1. Click on the 'tiles to update' button you can see in your image above and ensure that the filter is actually being applied to your dashboard tiles.

2. Create a new group with only one user in it and see if you can filter tiles with that single user (this is to check that your existing groups don't have everybody in them).

i got it but it require me to select the field to filter, i dont need any field to filter it , what am i supposed to do it

The 'field to filter' is the field that you want to apply the filter to. So if you select 'group 1' from the dashboard filter, Looker needs to know what field should say 'group 1' in the dataset. This modal is where you tell Looker what field to apply the filter to.

even if select the fields to be filtered to update the tile , all the tiles in the dashboard gives no results. what's the reason

But i dont need any specific field to filter the tile for changing the group.
