We're pleased to announce that Gemini in Looker is now available to preview on Looker (original) instances! Conversational Analytics is also now available under the Gemini in Looker preview on both Looker (original) and Looker (Google Cloud core). Please see our documentation for more information about the capabilities of Gemini in Looker and how to enable it.
Conversational Analytics
Conversational Analytics, our first Looker data agent, empowers users to ask questions of their data in natural language and take informed actions based on the insights they receive – all powered by AI and grounded in truth thanks to Looker’s semantic layer. Users no longer need to be technical experts to gain value from business intelligence, but can now simply choose the data to ask questions about and do so, as simply as they would ask a colleague, significantly improving ease of use and lowering barriers to discovery. This capability is in available for customers who enable the previews for both Gemini in Looker and Studio in Looker. Learn More
If you have feedback on Conversational Analytics please let us know by emailing conversational-analytics-feedback@google.com with as much detail as possible around your feedback.
LookML Assistant
Write LookML with Gemini assistance – The Help me code option in the Looker IDE is a coding companion that will help modelers and data analysts write LookML by providing guidance and suggestions. It can help you get started with LookML and accelerate your workflow. You can prompt the LookML assistant to create dimensions, dimension groups, measures, or for other code suggestions. Learn More.
Advanced Visualization Assistant
Create custom Looker visualizations with Gemini assistance – A Looker Explore’s Visualization Assistant makes it easier than ever for content creators to create customizations on top of Looker’s out-of-the box visualizations using Looker’s chart config editor. Instead of searching through documentation to find the right JSON parameters, you can ask Gemini in Looker for what you need, using natural language, to get your desired visualization customizations. Learn More
To enable the preview in a Looker (original) instance, a Looker Admin can navigate to the Gemini in Looker page in the instance admin settings and enable both "Gemini" and "Trusted Tester features". This will enable the preview features for all users on your instance.
Customers on Looker 25.2 and later have the ability to perform these tasks with Gemini assistance:
Write LookML
Create custom Looker visualizations
Conversational Analytics (this also requires enabling the Studio in Looker preview, which is another tab in the instance admin settings)
Customers on Looker 25.0 have access to Conversational Analytics when the Studio in Looker preview is also enabled on Looker (original).
Customers on Looker (Google Cloud core) continue to have access to the LookML assistant and the Visualization Assistant under the existing preview.
We’ve also introduced a new Gemini role and permission. Although this role has been available since Looker 25.2, it is not being enforced. Admins should grant this permission to users with the expectation that it will be required to use any Gemini in Looker feature starting in Looker 25.4. This permission also allows Looker users with the Viewer role to make certain API calls required to use Conversational Analytics. The Gemini permission can currently only be granted via the dedicated Gemini role; it can't be added to existing roles. For more information, visit the Admin settings - Roles documentation.
The other capabilities of Gemini in Looker, using natural language to generateSlides presentations and generate calculated fields, are expected to become available for Gemini in Looker users via Studio in Looker later this year.
Although the use of Conversational Analytics currently also requires Studio in Looker to be enabled, we anticipate de-coupling these features in the near future, so that customers can choose whether to enable Studio in Looker reports, Conversational Analytics, or both together.
Gemini in Looker is being made available at no additional cost for a limited time only. At the end of this limited time period, usage of Gemini in Looker may require the purchase of additional or different SKUs. No information has been released on Gemini in Looker pricing at this time.

Does Google Conversational Analytics offer managed services for Looker, including setup, data modeling, dashboard creation, and ongoing maintenance?
You still are responsible for modeling your data in LookML but you can connect CVS directly to it if you would like to take that route. Since this service is Google hosted you would not need to do maintenance to keep it going. If you have additional questions please feel free to reach out to your account team.
When does the limited use of Gemini for free end?
Is this available in embedded mode?
Not yet but coming soon!
