Happy Tuesday Admins! Hope you’re having a great week. Here’s what’s been happening in the world of Workspace:

Google Workspace Updates

  • We’re expanding security controls on IOS devices to give admins more ways to protect sensitive company data.
  • Starting in February 2023, the content manager role in Google Drive will be given the default ability to share folders in shared drives unless it is manually disabled.
  • We’re adding drop-down chips in Google Sheets as the latest smart canvas feature for collaboration in Google Workspace.
  • We’re introducing a new “Follow” feature on Google Slides, in which you can now click on a collaborator’s avatar in the Slides toolbar to jump to whatever slide they are on, and continue to move with them as they navigate and make changes to a presentation.
  • See our two enhancements for a smoother collaborative experience when using Miro with Google Meet.
  • You will now see a warning banner when adding external recipients to an email on iOS, which can be turned off by your admin.
  • You can now update file sharing permissions for files shared with meeting attendees in a Google Meet directly within Meet Chat.
  • When your Google Doc is set to the pageless format, you can now pin one or more table rows as header rows.
  • On Android devices, you can now see collaborator avatars in the toolbars of apps.
  • For a recap of features that have completed rollouts in the past six months, check out What’s new in Google Workspace (recent releases). This list is updated weekly and includes new features once they start rolling out to Scheduled Release domains.
