Happy Tuesday Admins! We hope those of you in the U.S. had a happy President’s Day, and that all of you had a Happy Valentine’s Day last week. Here’s what’s been happening in the world of Workspace:
- All content managers will now have the ability to share folders in Drive by default.
- Client-side encryption for Google Calendar is now generally available to eligible Workspace editions, ensuring that your event description, attachments, and Meet data is indecipherable to Google servers. We’ve extended client-side encryption to support Key Migration and Google Takeout as well.
- We’re updating the home screen on Series One Desk 27 and Board 65 devices to feature a “Connect device” button as a quick action.
- IMPORTANT: Starting on March 6 for personal accounts, and April 12 for Workspace Customers, you can voluntarily migrate Reminders from Google Calendar and Google Assistant to Google Tasks. This will create single experience for managing to-dos across Google. On May 22, Assistant and Calendar Reminders will begin to automatically migrate to Tasks for those that have not yet done so voluntarily.
- The Google Contact management experience has been improved with a new sidebar feature, allowing for easier access to the contact app for editing and creating contacts.
- We’re giving admins more control over whether warning banners for incoming email messages are displayed for their end users.
- Developers can now include interactive widgets in Chat app cards like checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns that are posted in the Chat message stream.
- Meet users on mobile can use several new 360 degree video backgrounds to create a dynamic experience that moves with you.

Google has just launched the new ChromeOS Administrator Certification and is waiving the fee for the exam until January 2024.
Designed for enterprise and education systems administrators, plus junior engineers with at least one year of holistic IT infrastructure experience, the three-hour exam is composed of approximately 50 multiple-choice questions and 30 hands-on lab questions. Each section is allotted 90 minutes to complete. The exam assesses the ability to perform actions from the Google Admin console, including configuring ChromeOS policies and understanding the tenets of ChromeOS. As more companies adopt Google Workspace than ever before as part of their digital transformation journey, the market needs qualified experts to help them on their way.
