Annotating directly in Google Drive using iPad or iPhone

Our school has been using Google Drive folders as student portfolio. We check directly in Google Drive using comment feature. However, a friend of mine who is a Samsung Ultra S23 user discovered that she can annotate directly in Google Drive without downloading the files, and it works for PDF, JPEG and HEIC files, which makes it a lot easier for her to check students' worksheets. On one hand, I cannot do this with my iPad or iPhone. There is no direct annotation feature for Apple users. I saw a video taken years ago that Markup Feature was available back then, but not anymore. I wonder why there is a discriminatory difference when it comes to devices. My other officemates who are Android users, and whose gadgets fared below the Apple products, can actually annotate directly in Google Drive. I hope that this is addressed by the developers.
