Where do I start? I want to become an AppSheet / AppScript developer.

Hello Hello,

I'm interested in becoming an AppSheet/AppScript developer. What are the best resources to get started, and what foundational skills should I focus on first?

I am currently a Google Workspace Admin for my organization and I am studying for the GW Admin certification. Could someone point me to the community threads or paid or free courses to get started?

In terms of foundational Apps Script my team have developed a free self-study course you could try.

I also share my learning/experiences with Apps Script via my blog (The Gift of Script).

As well as Phil's excellent resources, Ben Collins has a free Apps Script intro course https://courses.benlcollins.com/p/apps-script-blastoff - this includes some basic fundamentals of coding (Arrays / Loops).

Everyone is different but I find having a simply project that interests you as a great way to learn AppSheet/Apps Script - I started with just trying to get data from a calendar into a Google Sheet and vice versa. 

Here I've collected a lot of beginner and no-code examples for inspiration

Thanks a lot for the additional suggestions! I'll be sure to look at Ben Collins' course and those beginner/no-code examples. It's great to have a collection of resources to get started.

I like your idea of starting with a simple project that interests me. I've been wanting to automate some data transfer between my calendar and spreadsheets, so I'll give that a shot!
