Using Google Vault to minimise your climate impact

Many organisations using Google Workspace choose to use Google Vault as a way to retain all data forever.  Even when the user actively decides to delete some file or email, the file data is still being retained in Google Vault.  However, many of the emails stored in Google Vault may in fact be actual spam or unnecessary emails.  Those should be or could be deleted. Additionally, we receive informational emails every day that we may never need to look at.  And as many of you probably are, I am also very lazy with deleting emails.  I prefer to archive them.  The `e` shortcut in Gmail is just too handy 😉.  This article describes how you could configure your Google Vault in a way to advance your climate action in a significant way.

We know that every standard email costs about 4g of CO2 and keeping an email longer than necessary (or convenient) just increases this number.

You can easily use Google Vault to understand your email impact as well.  Simply use Google Vault search to understand your current footprint of storage and the possibilities to reduce them.
