Is there a way or will there be a way to add labels from my google contacts to to update or add large groups of people to a space?
I have a group of people I lead and I have them labeled as trainers and we have around 18 spaces on different topics we teach. This group of trainers has people who come and go. I would like to be able to add that Trainer Label to the space (or add them to the space right from google contacts as well). Right now it is a nightmare to manage the 18 groups and make sure I have all the people added one by one. This is very time consuming.
Unfortunately the functionality you are looking for isn't yet available. Google announced a developer preview for the Chat API but it is not generally available. The ability to simply click a Google contact and add them to a space would be a feature request for Google. A third party add on could do it if the API was available.
For bulk changes a lot of time the answer is GAM but without the API you can't make changes to chat. As soon as it is available the GAM creator said they will add the functionality in. This will likely allow you to make bulk changes to spaces.
Depending on the spaces, if it is ok to open it up to the organization, you make the groups discoverable and have the users add themselves. Send out a list of the spaces and users add themself.
Hello @Yarbrough14 You can perhaps create a dynamic groups based on user info?
I need to do something similar, if I am understanding this correctly:
I have 18 people with the same label in my Contacts. I want to be able to populate a Space by clicking "Add people & apps" and then typing in the label from my Contacts, similar to the way I can type the label into a new Calendar invite and it will auto-populate with all of my contacts that have that label.
