All emails from yahoo.com are being marked as spam!

Sometime in the last 1-2 weeks, gmail has started marking all emails from yahoo.com as spam (provided the sender isn't in the receiver's contact list). As an organization that receives plenty of legitimate unsolicited mail as a matter of normal business, this is unacceptable! Worse, while I'm able to workaround this for individual accounts with a domain whitelist entry, gmail doesn't apply whitelists to Google Groups. So these emails are still flagged for moderation when sent to groups, which can delay their delivery for days.

Google, please fix your spam rules; regardless of what your algorithms are picking up on, it's not acceptable to put a blanket block on one of the most largest email services in the world, not to mention a direct competitor!

@robert_buechler I hope you've also raised this with Google support, in addition to posting here...

I did, and they told me I should just whitelist yahoo.com and then remove spam moderation from my groups. I've already done that as a short-term workaround, but it's absurd to act like this is an acceptable/intended behavior in their spam algorithms.

@robert_buechler Can you post the original message headers?  I'm wondering if this is a forgery or a mailing list breaking DMARC or something.  -KAM

The messages are legitimate, I was able to replicate this by sending an email from my own yahoo email address. It doesn't seem to be a problem with Yahoo's configuration either, as all headers look fine (I've masked the actual address):

Authentication-Results: mx.google.com;
dkim=pass header.i=@yahoo.com header.s=s2048 header.b=dkHmPYjN;
spf=pass (google.com: domain of XXXXXXX@yahoo.com designates 66.163.190.174 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=XXXXXXX@yahoo.com;
dmarc=pass (p=REJECT sp=REJECT dis=NONE) header.from=yahoo.com

@robert_buechler that's exactly what I would have checked. I'm escalating to a Yahoo! postmaster to see if they have any insight. -KAM

@robert_buechler can you PM me and get me some specific Yahoo addresses affected?  Yahoo's postmaster is going to research this. -KAM

wondering what the status of this is as of Dec 2023? Having some issues with deliverability of mail form Yahoo at the moment.
