Changing the default save location for Google Meet recordings or access all meet recordings in WKSPC

Is there any way of changing the default save location for Google Meet recordings? If not, I need help accessing our workspace recordings. It's annoying to have to find the owner and request access if we want to share the recording with someone that was not originally invited to the call. Also, if the recording owner is OOO then we have to wait until they come back to do anything with the recording. Not sure if access groups works for this. If the workspace owner can do this, it would be great. Would appreciate the help.

A couple of thoughts:

1) Per the "In the Google Calendar Event" section of https://support.google.com/meet/answer/9308681?hl=en :

"If the recording starts at the scheduled meeting time, the recording links to the Google Calendar event. Individual meeting participants in the same organization as the meeting organizer automatically get access to the recording. Groups don't automatically get access."

2) The Meeting Organizers could share their "Meet Recordings" folders with the super admin, or the (highly trusted, obviously) person in charge of disseminating meeting recordings. You could even use a tool like GAM[1] to go through and set all users' Meet Recordings folders to have that persmission.

2) You could also use GAM to pull the list of meeting recordings owned by a particular user and to assign permissions to additional people for a particular meeting.

Others may have more clever ideas, this is just what occurred to me first.

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian! Wow! I had never even heard of GAM before. I'll check it out! Thank you for your kind and detailed reply. You're awesome! Getting back to you:
1) We do get access to view those but we don't get permission to share (which is technically what we would need)
2) This would work for us for now!
3) GAM -> Can only the workspace owner use GAM or if the workspace owner assigns an admin role to someone else would they be able to do this?

Thank you so much once again!

Yes, GAM can definitely work with sub-admin accounts that have more limited access. The GAM mailing list is very active/very helpful--I'd suggest asking there if you run into any issues setting it up.

Cheers,

Ian

Amazing Ian! This is incredibly helpful! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi, Mipardc!

How was it? Did it work?
