Hi all,
We do subscribe to the Google Workspace Business package.
We have some folders in the shared drive, each of them contains 100 of sub folders and 1000+ of files, the folder size is between 10 to 20TB each folders
Right now I have to dowload or using the Google Desktop to copy the folder I want to duplicate and then upload it bak to the cloud.
This downloading and uploading process takes so much time and we don't always have available HDD to download such big folders of 10 to 20TB before uploading back to the Cloud.
Is there a way to copy or duplicate folders using the Web interface? (not download and uploading methods)
We are also using Dropbox and Office365, duplicating a folder using the web browser interface is straightforward with those platforms.
But why Google doesn't let us copy or duplicate folder, but forces us to download and upload folders first?
I believe that it's not only me who is missing this feature, is there a request link somewhere so I can vote for it? Or the Google dev team already has this feature request in their backlog?
Hello!
There isn't a feature to copy a folder using admin console or using web browser interface from the user side.
You can do this via API using GAM: https://github.com/taers232c/GAMADV-XTD3/releases
https://sites.google.com/jis.edu.bn/gam-commands/services/drive?authuser=0#h.p_ieNDNc5C2AMQ
You can apply you feature idea here: https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Feature-Ideas/idb-p/workspace-ideas-groupidea-board
Thank you @Jan-Carlos, I will test later and update this tread if it works for me or not. 🙂
Thank you @paul_lees , ill try your suggestions and get back to you later.
Cheers
Try installing Google Drive for Desktop. Its an easy way to gain access to your usual File Explorer(Windows)/Finder(MacOS) features without having to download everything to your local machine.
It would be easier than learning to use GAM if its new to you.
Hi @paul_lees
We are using Patronum but I can't figure out how to copy a folder from one Shared Drive to another Shared Drive?
I am new to Patronum so maybe I am missing something here?
Cheers,
Arto
Thank you!
