Hello. I would like to delegate access to user mailboxes in the admin console so that another user's credentials can be used to authenticate to that user's mailbox.
Example scenario. User's manager wants to have access to user(s) mailbox in their Outlook for Q&A or audit purposes. Or access is needed via Outlook to export user mailbox data to PST by an email admin.
So far I have found that you can allow users to delegate access to their own mailboxes, but that isn't really useful to us. I did also see that you can setup application specific passwords. I was thinking that if I could generate one then I could use that to authenticate to their mailbox in Outlook. But I can't find the option to generate one in the user's security options. Does something need to be turned on in Gsuites before I can do that?
You can do this with the free, open source, command-line, indispensable GAM tool. Check out:
for more details.

Hope that helps,
