Hi,
When deleting a draft, that is for example reply of one email, gmail deletes all the conversation. From my point of view this is an error, it should delete only the draft, not all the associated conversation. Moreover, you are not aware of this, and suddenly the original email dissapears.
There are 2 options:
- The button delete dissapears from the drafts, it does not make sense if there is the option Discard draft
- The button delete does remove only the draft, and no all the conversation.
Thank you for checking this,

Hi Begona, yes, the lower right bin icon/discard draft that is inside of the draft itself is the right one to use. And when you hover over it, it does say "discard draft" as opposed to "delete"? Do not use the bin icon that is either before you go into the draft (and is next to a archive and mark unread button) or that is near the top of your screen.
Can the associated conversation be found in the trash bin? Asking because https://support.google.com/mail/thread/71665573/deleting-draft-of-forwarded-message-deletes-original... indicates that they should be going to trash (at least the actual conversation though sometimes the draft will too)?
Hi Begona, you are right that the delete button on the actual draft is only supposed to be discarding the draft but not deleting the other emails in the thread. I just tried it right now to delete a draft and it deleted the draft but not the other emails in the thread. So when the email disappears, you are verifying that it shows up in the trash bin and not still elsewhere like 'all mail' or inbox? And you are also verifying that you are using the trash can symbol inside of the draft and not the only that is under the 3 vertical dots on the top right near the top of the screen and that option says "delete this message" or the trash bin symbol that is at the top of the screen to the left? Are you on the mobile app or desktop/web browser?
Hi Penelope, I used the bin icon that appears in the right side of the email (with other action buttons) in the web browser. In this case, I checked it again, and it removes also the associated conversation.
Thank you
