Docs | Variables syncing and import with Sheets | Removed/Canceled | 2024 Q3

Hi everyone,

I was surprised to find out the Docs/Sheets 'merge' feature is not on the Q3/2024 roadmap anymore 😢
In the comparison sheet it got the status removed/canceled.

I was wondering why this feature will not be developed/released?
Is this off the plate for ever? Or will there be a new plan for this?

Hi, I am trying to get clarity on this internally. I must admit I do not understand this feature, what was the target use case?

Thanks for your interest in this use case.
Let's say you have a Google Doc you would like to merge with variables from a Google Sheet (for hard-copy-printing a general text, enriched with variables from a Sheet, or the creation of labels for network events showing the variable data of all participants (Name, Company, Expertise).
Currently, it's only possible using (paid) add-ons and/or AppsScript.
The smart chips variable upgrade is a great feature, but in some cases you have multiple records with fields that you would like to use in relationship with text documents.
Does this make sense?
