Hi,
I help run a small nonprofit and we have used Google Workspace for free. I'd like to add Gemini capabilities and when I asked Gemini about it, it wrote: Yes, Gemini for Google Workspace is available to users with a Google Workspace for Nonprofits subscription, meaning even the free version of Google Workspace for Nonprofits can access Gemini features."
I don't see how to access such Gemini in Workspace for free.
Has anyone in a similar situation succeeded? If so, how?
Thank you,
Josh
@OrkestaiFarm I could have this wrong but I believe the NPOs will get the Core Service of Gemini App which is the website gemini.google.com. I believe you have to buy the Gemini Add-ons otherwise. The Gemini App is the chat agent NOT the integrated AI agent throughout Google Workspace.
HTH, KAM
which Gemini App would an NPO have to purchase to take notes/transcribe Google Meetings?
Take Notes for Me is available starting on the Business Standard plan and higher.

Just a quick update. The Gemini add-on is now completely unavailable for non-profits. Gemini is unavailable in any format to non-profit Workspace accounts as of January 1st 2025.
Will it be made available? If so when and how can I add it to my workspace?
See my previous response above
You need a Business Standard plan or higher to use Take Notes for Me.
You should be able to get non-profits discount on those plans.
I just spent an hour with the support desk, only for them to come to the conclusion that Gemini is not currently available for Non-profit accounts. I'll note that the initial responses were pointing to published Google help articles talking about the availability for non-profit workspace accounts. It appears that there hasn't been an official update posted, or a correction posted to that announcement.
We also verified that Gemini is not an available add-on to purchase... (at least not for our account.)
We are very happy to have Google workspace for our non-profit. A shame that the Gemini integration a) doesn't exist and b) isn't well communicated.
I agree, I also spent a long time trying to figure this same thing out. Equally disappointed that it's not available in our nonprofit workspace. I now use my personal Gmail account to use Genimi.
@MahoneySFF & @Elizabeth802 this all changed very recently. See

TL;DR: The Gemini Add-ons are gone. They are now included with Enterprise and Business workspace editions. You will need to talk to sales about a discount rate on a Business SKU now to get Gemini as I understand it. -KAM
Hi there, please take a look at the following two links:
1. this blog was just posted yesterday and details how we are thinking about Gemini in the NPO sector.
2. we have updated our help center article which includes Nonprofits SKU
Also trying to resolve this, I have a NFP client who wants to purchase the Business upgrades for just a subset of their free NFP users, I was told by support that they couldn't use the Admin subscriptions tab as this only allows to upgrade ALL users and was told to "contact sales". Is using this form the only option to do this ? https://workspace.google.com/intl/en_au/contact/?source=gafb-home-globalnav-en-AU
It is unacceptable that non-profit organisations are being denied access to the Gemini integrations in Workspace, especially during a time when they are working with limited financial resources. These organisations are dedicated to the greater good and often face challenges in achieving their vital projects due to a lack of resources. They urgently need the significant relief and efficiency gains that Gemini can provide.
Gemini integrations can slash administrative and operational overhead, allowing NPOs to focus on their mission instead of getting bogged down in red tape.It is unacceptable that NPOs are excluded from these advanced tools. We demand an immediate review and adjustment of these access restrictions. It is unacceptable that those with the fewest financial resources should be denied the benefits of modern technologies. An inclusive and fair distribution of these resources is not only desirable, but necessary to make the world of work fairer and more efficient — especially for the actors who form the foundation of our solidarity-based society on a daily basis.
