Our teams are using more and more tasks in Chat Spaces, and it works really well. Managers can assign tasks to people, and people can acknowledge and mark complete using reactions.
What's missing is a single pane so that I can see all the tasks assigned to me in all Spaces, all together. I have to go to a Space, see the tasks there, then go to another Space and see other tasks. A single view within Chat of all my assigned tasks would be fantastic.
Ultimately they would all feed into the tasks within Calendar, but I can see that being a much larger project.
Well, Chat Space assigned tasks do at least flow to Google Tasks, which is accessible both in an mobile app and on the right-hand sidebar for many Google web services (Gmail, Chat, Calendar, ...).
Though I agree that a Chat integrated page would be helpful for all of my assigned tasks, at least I can see them all in the Tasks service.
update: as of today tasks.google.com is available
Hi Bill, and thankyou for replying. The tasks do not for me flow through to Google Tasks, which is what has prompted my question. That would be awesome! I have trawled the settings pages to try to see how to switch this on, but I can't see anything obvious. Do you know, is this a setting you enabled in your Workspace or in personal options?
@heavysoil there's no setting for this: it just works out of the box - as you can see in this annotated screenshot:
Make sure :
As you can see from the screenshot (outlined in blue) it even displays a tag to show which Space it came from.
I agree. I would also love to see the ability to connect these tasks to the Looker Data Studio so they could be included in reporting/dashboards.
This only touches on one aspect of Task visibility, but if you agree with my Featuer Idea, please upvote it. I would love to see google make Spaces and Tasks better. https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Feature-Ideas/Make-Google-Space-Tasks-available-as-Data-Sour...
