Google Meet Chat History

Hello y'all,

I started using the investigation Tool inside the Google Admin Console.

I'm trying to view the messages sent via Google Meet chat during a call. I know that is you record the call, you get a file sent to your email with the transcript of the whole call.

But, I have the following problem:

The meet was not recorded and a student sent disrespectful messages to some classmates. I tried using the Investigation Tool, and narrowed it down to the day and the user that sent it. When I see the results, it just says "user@mail.com posted a message".

The only downside, is that when you click the option you get no message information. It's just the log that the user sent a message.

Is there a way to see the messages sent in Google Meet?

Has this feature been requested before if it's not available? Thank you.

I'm utterly flabbergasted when I found that the chat history during the meetings are not logged even for the administrators' view. It can potentially be a security loophole leaving no trace between the chats during the meetings—no transparency to the administrators for auditing.

Like you I'm astonished that there is no Meet chat history. Not even in Google Chat logs when the Meet call is between you and that person.

As an ex-Google employee (Xoogler) I'm not shocked as the company has a habit of leaving products without serious product development, even with a passionate user base.

The same happened with G+, the social network where, if someone posted a photo, you could not reply with a photo! And that was during the entire lifetime of the product/service. It was frustrating to see lack of basic features, because, IMO, the focus drifted towards new, cool features that would wow your coworkers.

@thilakraman & @techsupport-jag you'll definitely want to look at Vault. -KAM
