Google Meet Recording Restrict Access

Is it possible to only share a recorded Meet session with the Admin and selected meeting attendees? There are instances where we do not want some attendees of the meeting to have access to the recording but would like others to have access. Additionally, is this possible without too much manual intervention post-meeting?

its a good question, please let me know if you come across any solution for the same.

The one i could think off, will be, requesting the Meeting Owner, once they have the recording rendered and available, to place it on a (Shared Drive) where you will be granting access only to selected people (access groups) works wonders, if you place it under a subfolder in a shared drive.

Yup,owner can simply open this particular file in his drive and review the sharing permissions or can move it to a specific share folder as mentioned by @GuibsonPrieto

It works,great!!

What if the Meeting owner is not present for the meeting and also would like this to happen in a more automated fashion? For data security reasons there are some people who could be in the recording who we do not want to share the recording with.

@GuibsonPrieto i think by default the meet recording will get added to the calendar event and that could be the scenario he is trying to avoid

Yes, but since this is default, hence why i was recommending the owner of the event to place (move) the recording into a more strict folder, shared drive, this would be done effortlessly by opening the video and move it.

will try that, thanks.

What if I want this to happen in a more automated fashion? I will be dealing with many, many meetings.

Recordings include the active speaker and anything thatโ€™s presented. Recordings are saved to the organizerโ€™s Meet Recordings folder in My Drive. An email with the recording link is sent to the meeting organizer and the person who started the recording. The link is added to the Calendar event.

Gotcha. So only the meeting organizer and recording person will start with access? What if the meeting organizer is not present but would like to be the one to start the recording?

if the organizer changes or if the meeting occurs outside of the scheduled Calendar time, the recording link is sent to the original event organizer.

An email with the recording link is sent to the meeting organizer and the person who started the recording.

By default, the person who starts the meeting (other than the original meeting organizer) becomes the new recording meeting (file), which then will be able to move the file into the shared drive for a more restricted access.

I think generally speaking this solution works, and thank you for taking the time to so diligently respond to my questions. I would like to add some additional context so that maybe you can understand more of what I am after.

I am in the Education Business, and we would like to record all meetings with students. However, sometimes the person doing the education session is a contractor. And while we want them to record the meeting, we do not want them to have access to the file. We want our company management, the student, and their parents to have exclusive access. I would like to find a way to scale Google Meet for better enterprise capabilities.

It doesn't matter, whoever the organizer is,he will be the owner always, the other person would be a viewer, after the meeting ends and once the owner receives the file they can immediately change the access permissions

Hello, did you find a workaround for this? I'm facing the same issue! @cracz

Is there any way to change the default recording folder or does this always have to happen manually? @GuibsonPrieto

If the meeting owner is OOO (and didn't attend the meeting) then we basically can't do anything until they come back. We have lots of meetings and this has become an issue from time to time.
