I am enjoying moving many of our services over to Google Workspace and I appreciate Workspace has been improving with apps over the years for a central managed Hub of our company communications center. Recently, I signed up for GV professional and am noticing we can't purchase or port an 800 number nor 808 numbers. This makes it extremely frustrating to and is a deal breaker for our phone system.
I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if Google will be adding more to this service in the future before we depart. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
@HawaiiBusiness My 800 number experience is that the 800 number is more of a forward than a real number.
My business main number is on Google voice and my 800 number remains with Verizon long distance and redirects to that main number.
I am sure they are countless ways to set up 800 numbers but thought I'd mention this is working for me for many years.

I could see that working as a possible solution but that is quite irritating. If they are going to offer phone system capabilities in Google voice, a simple 800 number or vanity number seems like a no-brainer.
Also, here in Hawaii we have 1 area code which is 808. Google won't let us port in 808 or buy 808 numbers so our entire business would be working off of a different area code and could be confusing for our customer base.
I would prefer to centralize 1 system rather than forwarding and routing through multiple. It will defeat one of the main purposes we use Google voice.
@HawaiiBusiness I generally look at requirements with any Voice deals and engage with firms like RingCentral and Dialpad as well because there GV generally has shortcomings especially if you know what other PBXes can do. -KAM
If you're searching for the best place to purchase Google Voice accounts, look no further! There are several reliable options available online where you can find these accounts.
Google Voice does not offer toll-free numbers like 1-800.
