Hi Everybody,
Good day.
I would like to seek your professional opinion about the data region. I'm currently dealing with some of my clients holding sensitive data with Australian government bodies.
One of the prerequisites is ensuring the data is stored within the region and not out of Australia.
As I'm looking through the data center in Google where there is one in Sydney and another one in Melbourne.
Nonetheless, when I choose the data region in my Admin Console, the option is only available either in US, Europe or No preference. I'm currently on Enterprise Plus Subscription plan on my Google Workspace.
Is there any way where I can see the option of other countries ?
Second Question - Is there any possible to way to request Google and obtain a written letter saying that my Google Workspace data is stored in definitely within Australia only and not outside of the country ?
Appreciate your valuable feedback.
Thank you.
Best Regards,
YK
@rickyho282828 I am after the same answers... to be able to apply for DISP, data must be stored in Australia. Any update on this topic?
Google should offer this. Microsoft does

No, Data Regions only supports EU or US today. Customers that have specific country requirements opt to use Client Side Encryption and host/manage their KMS in that location.

No, we cannot make that guarantee for data processing since only US and EU are supported Data Regions. See my comment above to explore CSE as that is the way our public sector and other customers that have strict governance regulations address it.
Hi Kevin, whilst I appreciate there is a workaround (at additional cost to the customer) Google must address this for it's global customers outside the US and Europe. It is difficult to advocate for Workspace as a solution with such a glaring difference when compared with the Microsoft offer.
