Google Workspace - Mobile Device Management (Tablets)

Hello,

I'm looking to subscribe Google Workspace - (for tablets Mobile Device Management), so kindly let me know if it offers all the below the mentioned features/options:

  1. Monitor tablets usage e.g., how much time was spent by each user doing browsing, using applications use etc.
  2. Centralized control over applications, which can be installed and run by a user. This will be applied/forced via centralized policy through MDM.
  3. Tablets registration on MDM should be quick and easy using the central management. It will be impossible for us to install agents to large number of tablets at different locations.
  4. There should be policy-based installations/configurations so that we don't have to deal with individual tablets configurations one by one. e.g., as soon as a tablet is registered to MDM, e.g., encryption and other policies should be automatically applied.
  5. MDM should have multiple administrators, having different roles. Each admin should be able to manage tablets and access their information/reports based on their roles. There should be multiple admins with different roles and rights e.g., regional will have only regional specific rights, Global will have more rights for the whole country.
  6. MDM agent can't be uninstalled by users, only admin can do that
  7. Location tracking report to view the locations where a tablet is being used.
  8. There should be a central reporting mechanism. Also, if needed reports based on regions or locations could be generated e.g., User activity reports.

Hi Belai,

Google workspace comes with a range of MDM options, and you can compare them on our help center pages. More info: https://support.google.com/a/answer/9852079

1. Its possible to see the device state and which version etc it runs but you cannot see the time spend in individual apps, due to limitations of the android and iOS operating system limitations.

2. You can control which apps are installed, do force installs and prevent un-install of apps with workspace endpoint management.

3. Depending on the configuration you can have an easy rollout of devices, all settings, reports and details are managed via the Google Admin panel.

4. Configurations can be set on a OU level, user level or group level to make it easy to distribute configs for large groups of devices / users at the same time. Policies can automatically be applied

5. You can setup multiple custom roles in the google admin panel to facilitate per region admins who can provide support or setup specific policies.

6. Its possible to have a BYOD or company owned device policy that prevents the removal of the MDM agent.

7. Not sure if this is possible from the Google Admin portal but for Apple devices you can setup specific policies related to apple business manager and with Google you can use find my device settings.

8. Reporting is build into the admin google panel.

Hope this helps, happy testing!
