I've noticed a difference between the features available in free Gmail accounts and Google Workspace accounts regarding Google Meet. In a free Gmail account, users can create a Google Meet calling account using only their email addresses. However, in Google Workspace, it seems mandatory to add a phone number to activate a Google Meet calling account.
This requirement in Google Workspace is inconvenient and seems unnecessary, especially since the free Gmail service doesn't impose such a restriction. It can be frustrating for users who prioritize email communication or prefer not to link their phone numbers to their accounts for privacy or security reasons.
Is there a way to enable Google Meet calling using only an email address in Google Workspace, similar to how it works in free Gmail accounts? If not, are there plans to update this feature to provide the same flexibility and user-friendliness as the free Gmail service?
Thank you for your assistance.
