I want to generate a transfer token for my secondary domain so that I don't loose the data. My issue is that I want to move the secondary domain to its own tenant on its own workspace without loosing the data how can I get this done ? Please help with this it is urgent at the moment @adad @GoogleWorkspace
There is no native, built in way to do this. A transfer token wouldn't help, either (that's for transferring entire accounts including all domains to a Google reseller). Google offers a professional service to do domain migrations, but they are very costly and typically only offered to enterprise customers.
What you could do is use something like cloudm.io to migrate data from one Workspace instance to another. Once all data is migrated, remove the secondary domain from the source instance, add it to the destination instance and make it the primary domain there. It's a bit of a hack, but should work.
Thanks,
That is exactly what I am doing right now. But it is too slow for the deadline that we needed hence the look for such options.
@cryptochrome is correct. Yo need to perform a migration, not generate a transfer token. Transfer tokens are for account billing purposes, not data migration purposes.
Exactly as my 2 colleagues have suggested above, but as you are mentioning if this is time sensitive, i would suggest to get a New destination account with a placeholder, where you could use to begin the migration process with cloudm.io as suggested, since it will all depends on all intricacies, such as data volumes, and the content itself, the placeholder domain will help you to transfer the data without disrupting the accounts that use that specific domain in the source environment, it might sound complex, but it is not, also, keep in mind of any Thirdparty services that those accounts have Oauth with, since some Google workspace known as additional services do not migrate their data, as there is no API that supports it, but yet simple to do an ownership transfer or reauthenticating into them, good luck and keep us updated on the progress
