Every thing was great with back up and sync… Now with Drive for desktop Im investing too much time to solve the following issue – Downloaded drive for desktop. I have 2 main folder on "my drive" - one I need to sync to my computer and second not. Defined streaming mode and chose 1st folder as available offline. This folder is all my needed data located in the drive. Amazingly found out that no way to define the synced folder in windows10 indexing interface. The windows search is my most useful tool and I cant use the Drive UI for search – I have more data on the computer and other cloud as Drobox. Indexing working great on dropbox folder and one drive folder which can be defined in the windows indexing interface but only google folders not…. I must solve this huge problem or move from drive . Thanks
Drorfl, I share your upset. Is this a google unspoken ultimatum? Meaning, "if you want to search, you must do it in Drives clunky browser based UI". (which lacks to traditionally easy to search/navigate file/folder-Win10 Explorer methodology). google can clearly allow indexing of the shortcuts it is using, this isn't a technical challenge. Google seems to be saying, if you want to use explorer, you must go to OneDrive. This tactic seems like it will force paying customers (like myself) to OneDrive or DropBox, which lacks the integrations with other Google Apps. But Search, for me, beats integrations.
talktotrey I totaly agree. It is so hard for me this days to use my computer without the search and if I will not find a solution it will forced me to use other cloud. Impossible to think that google did so huge mistake and hope they will solve it very soon
@talktotrey @Drorfl have either of you tried the search provided by Drive for Desktop itself? Just press Ctrl + Alt + G and the search box will appear and give you a clickable file path to take you to that location on your local computer.
@StephenHind hi. I know this google UI option but it dosn't help me at all. Though it is better than nothing I must search in windows search - you type one relevant word and see all results from emailes, shared dropbox and one drive files and my files. all other cloud allow this search for synced files but google... they must solve it
Does some one know if one is using drive for desktop in mirroing mode ( force to synch all files) it solves the problem?
