Hi, my client's company rebranded so I created a secondary domain without knowing that it is connected to the Primary Domain. Both Domains were created through Google and the Primary Domain was created when G Suite was still around. I am aware that you can't replace your Primary Domain if both domains were created by Google. I don't want to keep the current Primary Domain because of financial implications.
The Primary Domain's subscription is soon coming to an end. If I don't renew the Primary Domain subscription, will I lose access to my Secondary Domain? If I don't lose access to the secondary domain, does the Secondary Domain become the Primary Domain?
You need to make the secondary domain the primary domain and then Google Workspace will continue to work.
Your bigger issue is what happens if someone emails one of the old primary domain: you're happy for it to just bounce?
@OrganizedSpaces following up on Stephen Hind's statement, you need to change the primary domain. Sadly, this is not an easy task because it will impact users a lot. You'll want to communicate login changes, for example. You might have to reprovision somethings, etc. How large is your user base?
