Login Loop on Google for Non-Profits Workspace

Hello,

I have an account that was recently given access as the administrator of a Google Workspace for Non-Profits account. However when I try to login to admin.google.com, I get

Sign in with an administrator account
To sign in to admin.google.com, use an administrator account for a managed Google service, such as Google Workspace or Cloud Identity. Learn more about Google accounts

But when I try to add the account, I just end up back on this screen that has the add account button. When I go to the page for the non profit account and go to Administrators, I see the account listed. I tried to add another google account as an administrator, but run into the same problem.

I have exactly the same issues. Did you manage to find out the solution?

Not yet, I've tried with different chrome profiles, different computers, clearing cache, and I always end up back at the same screen.

Iโ€™m not sure why, but this seems to happen a lot with new Workspace for Nonprofits setups. Check out all the various options for โ€œrecoveringโ€ admin access to your Google Workspace account at https://support.google.com/a/answer/33561?hl=en โ€” that usually gets it sorted out.

There are a number of options there including getting in touch with support as well as technical methods to prove to Google that you own your domain name and should be allowed to access the Workspace instance.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Hi there - Apologies for the issues you are experiencing. The Workspace team is now investigating this and I will send you a p.m. to get some more details they need to pinpoint the issue.

-Andrew, Google Cloud Community Manager

I had the ability to view messages for a moment, with an indication that I had a new one, but then it said I did not have permission to view the page. The original issue persists.

Thanks AndrewB, we are looking forward to your PM. Have a wonderful day.

Hi, this issue persists. How can I access the admin console of the google workspace for non-profits account?

@lhccampstaff can you check the private message that I sent you?

I do not see a way to check private messages

Click on your profile (the circle with the "L" in it) at the top-right of this page, and  choose "Messages", like this:

There is no Messages area under the username

Ah-you may need to turn that feature on. To do that, choose "My Settings" from that menu and go to Preferences > Private Messenger:

Hi, we continue to have this issue where we cannot access the Google Workspace for Non-Profits admin console, and there is no way to view the private messages that we are being sent to help resolve this issue. What is the next step?

It seems that a different email was used when creating the Workspace account (which may have been some time ago.) So the next step is to fill out this account recovery form and they should help you get back in.

Andrew, unfortunately the form you linked, even if you select 'forgot you admin username and password' still asks for the name of an administrator account, and if you put one in there that does not exist, you get an automated email response that that contains a link to recovering that account, but then the account doesn't exist, so you are led back to the same form. What do we do if we have no access to the domain's admin portal and have no idea what the name of any admin accounts are?

We are still unable to access the Google Workspace for Non-Profits for our domain because we simply do not know any of the existing accounts associated with the domain. All of the forms provided for help ask for the name of an existing account, but since we requested access to this domain and the previous owners did not use the account and no longer work for the organization, we do not know any of the accounts that may have been used.

Still no activity here and I am not sure what to do next. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I have seen this before, the problem is that the account that was being used caused an issue with an existing account, the recommended path was to open an incognito window, use the same email address that was used to sign for the nonprofit account and password and go over the same process of submitting the request for nonprofit, there is a step before completing that you will be redirected to verifying the account, you should give it a try

We have the exact same error here. No possibility to log in. Checked all email accounts, if there was any mail about workspace admin for google nonprofit. We just got sent a mail where it says that Google Workspace for Nonprofits has been successfully activated. But cant login at the admin console.

It's a depressingly common occurrence for workspace for nonprofits, and I'm not sure why. What seems to work for most folks is to go through the process to "recover" admin access to their Workspace instance.

You can see the various options for recovering admin access to your Google Workspace account at https://support.google.com/a/answer/33561?hl=en.

There are a number of options there including getting in touch with support as well as technical methods to prove to Google that you own your domain name and should be allowed to access the Workspace instance.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thanks Ian, the problem is however that the recovery methods all ask for the name of an admin account within that workspace instance, but if you do not know what it is and you put something random in there, you get a link in your inbox that points you to a page telling you that account doesn't exist in that workspace, then it points you back to the same account recovery page. This account was given access to the workspace instance months ago now after the 14 day period of Google determining that the old administrator was gone, but still can't access the workspace instance.
