Goal
- Create a routing rule that takes all emails addressed specifically to originaluser@example.com (internal user) and reroutes them to reroutegroup@example.com (internal Google Group)
- Bypass this setting for trusteddomain.com
Routing Rule (Apps -> Google Workspace -> Gmail -> Routing -> Add Another Rule)
1. Email messages to affect
- Inbound (YES)
- Outbound (NO)
- Internal - Sending (?)
- Internal - Receiving (?)
2. For the above types of messages, do the following
- Change envelope recipient - replace recipient: reroutegroup@example.com
A. Address lists
- Use address lists to bypass or control application of this setting: Apply address lists to correspondents
- Bypass this setting for specific addresses / domains: trusteddomain.com
B. Account types to affect
- Users (?)
- Groups (?)
- Unrecognized / Catch-all (NO)
C. Enveloper filter
- Only affect specific envelope recipients: originaluser@example.com
Questions
I'm not really sure what the functional difference is between Internal - Sending and Internal - Receiving with the creation of this routing rule and when to use either or both?
Google's documentation:
- Internal-sending—Internal message with one of the domains or subdomains from your organization listed in the To field
- Internal-receiving—Internal message with one of your organization's domains or subdomains, listed in the From field
For Email messages to affect, which would I choose for this use-case and why / why not?
For Account types to affect, would I only select Users?
