Pooled storage

Situation
  • We were given a very vague timeline back in May of this year that the additionnal storage paid per each user would disapear. However we were informed that we would be able to buy additional pooled storage (domain wide) . That is not the case. We can't buy additional storage. That is unacceptable.
  • We cant buy additional storage, yet Google gave us a deadline to take action threatening us of blocking any edit-creation of existing /new file/emails and are taking us and our business in hostage (we have 27days left, been trying to get answer for the last 30days)
  • Our Reseller can't enable the split licensing it has been blocked and did not get information about that. Still waiting from his Google representative to respond
  • The communication from Google is near non-existent or very vague and creates uncertainty for our business regarding our next step.
  • We feel like you are forcing us to upgrade the licenses of all of our user to business standard. If that is the case, Google should clearly say so.
  • This update has been extremely badly handled from the start.
We have been asking for help for a while now. We can't buy additional storage this option is unavailable. There as been no communication given to us. Help us. We have 27days left before we get locked. We have search for help for a month now. A month of uncertainty about what is going on.
We are very dissatisfied

Hi there.

It's no longer possible to buy additional storage for individual users.

Your Google Cloud partner should be able to help you either:

  • Enable partial domain licensing, if your organization is eligible. Partial domain (mixed) licensing requires a minimum number of users and a minimum % of users on the higher SKU (edition).
  • If not, upgrade your Google Workspace edition (for all users) in order to gain access to additional storage, and help you benefit from the countless additional capabilities you'd gain from the upgrade.

Except in very rare and exceptional circumstances, I always caution organizations against partial domain (mixed) licensing as confusion will abound amongst the user base with regards to who has access to what features and capabilities, and who doesn't. This invariably breaks workflows, and makes some workflows impossible to implement organization-wide.

Just a few of many examples:

Who can record meetings?
Who can use Shared Drives?
Who can use external spaces?
Who can use document templates?
Who can submit document approvals?
Who can have meeting co-hosts or create polls?
Nobody knows (except the admin)!

Hope this helps. If you need any more assistance, feel welcome to reach out!

I was refering to adding domain wide storage, not individual storage. That is what I meant in the first bullet point. (I added some words to try to clarify)

We have very few days left and we will be forced to double our monthly payment. We did contact smb-workspace-renewals@google.com by  email. We got the reply that they made the necessary adjustement and the request to be accepted has been sent to our reseller that says he can't accept it, there is a bug and he is waiting for his google representative response. Apparently, he should have an answer this week.

However, this is very frustating. No communication from Google address any of those issues nor did they even warned us about the false claim that we would be able to buy pooled storage (this feature does not work)

Thank you for your time.
