Hi there,
Is there a reason why, when adding a room to a Google meeting, an automatic Google Maps link is created for that room and shared? Especially since there's no indication that this is a Google Maps link and has caused confusion for us directly when a client has clicked on the room and been directed to an incorrect location on Google Maps.
My understanding is that the 'Location' section when setting up a Google meeting is the area you can add your address and it's what we use when organising an on-site meeting.
Is there anyway to disable the rooms having an automatic maps link generated?
@wturner Using your admin account,Go to this link:
https://admin.google.com/ac/calendarresources/resources
find out the meeting room and then find out the budling associated with it..
Next:
Click on the dropdown next to resources and select the Buildings option
Scroll over the building name you found earlier...click on the pencil button to edit ,,,and update the address...
Thanks for that. I understand you can add addresses to a room but what i'm looking to do is not have an address. We use rooms for meetings to show our team where we'll host the meeting internally but our clients will be joining remotely. Having an address attached to a room can confuse this.
What i'm wondering is if there's an option to not include an address, it appears if you leave the address empty, the room still links to Google Maps.
@wturner You can create a new building without address then move all the resources under current bulding to new bulding...
It seems that if there's no address, a link is still included by default and takes users to Google Maps where it uses a best guess address e.g. if our room is titled 'Level 1 Boardroom' it searches Google Maps for an address with a similar name
@wturner true ....it says can't find....the location and takes us to the google map...
it seems like the the address field is a required field even though it let us create the building without specifying it...
so basically it always redirect us to the google map and it seems like an expected behavior....
