Saying domain is already in use

Hi there,

Technologically challenged and in the midst of a real pickle. I have a business that has undergone a few name changes leading up to our big launch, and have used two different workspaces over the course of a year. I own three domains that are relevant:

<URL removed by staff>(no longer going to be used as the brand name has changed. Had a workspace for this but it was automatically deleted after 180 days of inactivity).

<URL removed by staff>((was linked to <URL removed by staff>(above on the workspace, but is now gone with the previous workspace).

<URL removed by staff>( (new workspace).

All of my packaging says "<URL removed by staff>(" and I want the site's main URL to be <URL removed by staff>(. However, any time I try to add <URL removed by staff>(to my <URL removed by staff>( workspace, it says the domain is already in use. That's not true, since <URL removed by staff>( was part of the <URL removed by staff>( workspace that was deleted.

Can someone help me make the "already in use" error go away? Sorry if this was confusing ๐Ÿ™‚

If you receive this message when trying to sign up for a Google workspace, it might be because:

  • You recently removed this domain from another managed Google account. It can take 24 hours (or 7 days if you purchased your account from a reseller) before you can use the domain with a new account.
  • You or someone in your organization already created a managed Google account with your domain. Try resetting the administrator password and weโ€™ll send an email to the secondary email you provided when you signed up, telling you how to access the account.
Youโ€™re using the domain with another managed Google account that you own. If so, remove the domain from the other account.

Contact Google
If none of these applies, the previous owner of your domain might have signed up for a Google service. Fill out this form and the Support team will get back to you within 48 hours.
