So our organisation already had a website hosted outside of Google with a proper domain name and one of 2 email addresses configured.
We have been able to be eligible for the non-profits version of Google Workspace verifying with the domain above. and all worked fine.
We would like to use the functionality of email addresses provided by GW but when we configure email addresses in GW, with the domain we already own, if it is a new email address, the email cannot be delivered, receiving the response that it doesn't exist.
If it is an address that we already had, the email is sent to that external provider, which is not what we would like as the space on the provider Is very limited and we intend on creating a lot of email addresses in GW for the whole organisation and partners' volunteers.
What can we do to receive the mails directly at the addresses we will create for users in GW. Those addresses will have to have the domain we previously own as ending.
We can't move our site in here as the website is done with Wordpress but even that won't be the solution as they are 2 different things.
Thanks,
D.
Hi Dwamara,
If I interpret your situation correctly, you'll have to update the MX records for the domain you want to failover to GMail/Google Workspace.
However, if you are not familiar with e-mail related DNS records, I would advise you NOT to attempt to change these by yourself, and rather have an experienced IT person assist you with the operation.
Be advised that you won't be able to maintain fully functional email addresses/accounts both at your external hosting provider and in Google Workspace.
